DÜSSELDORF (April 6, 2017) – Prologis, Inc., the global leader in logistics real estate, today announced it is developing a new 41,000 square meter logistics facility in Unna, Germany.

Prologis has signed a lease agreement with van Eupen Logistik for 23,500 square meters. With this new lease, the Essen-based contract logistics company is expanding its warehouse logistics operations in Unna. Prologis is building an additional 17,500 square meters for future lease agreements with other customers. The construction start is scheduled for mid-April.

The Unna site comprises 66,500 square meters. Prologis plans to have the entire project completed by the end of 2017, with van Eupen starting operations as early as this fall. The international logistics company has been a Prologis customer since 2008 and has 43,000 square meters of existing space in Unna under long-term lease.

“This second logistics facility represents our pursuit of growth objectives at an important location,” said Dirk Recke, managing director of van Eupen Logistik. “It’s great to have Prologis’ support with this additional project and continue to strengthen our long-standing, trust-based partnership with Prologis.

Once the facility is completed, Prologis will have a total logistics area of 84,000 square meters in Unna. The new building features an overhead clearance of 11.5 meters and has 37 gates and a weather-protected area for side unloading. Prologis is aiming to have the facility certified by the DGNB, the German Sustainable Building Council.

“We are pleased that van Eupen is giving us the opportunity to build on our already good partnership,” said Alexander Heubes, senior vice president, country manager, Prologis Germany. “We wish to thank the WFG Unna, the Society for Economic Development in the Unna District, for their support in preparing and implementing this project.”

The seller of the land, WFG of the Unna District, is a society that aims to guide and accelerate social and economic development in the Unna region. “Prologis’ new logistics facility will allow us to further stimulate economic growth in the region and create the potential for new jobs,” said Dr. Michael Dannebom, managing director of the WFG.
