For the 10th anniversary of IMPACT Day—Prologis’ worldwide day for charitable work—we once again worked with Kinderhilfezentrum Düsseldorf. On May 13, 2022, we made improvement to the large outdoor area of the facility, did some gardening and completed minor repairs.
In the presence of Josef Hinkel, mayor of the city of Düsseldorf, Björn Thiemann, senior vice president, country manager Germany, presented a cheque for 5,000 euros as a donation to Kinderhilfezentrum on behalf of Prologis. In addition, the children and young people received small gifts, such as Frisbees, chalk, gym bags and soccer balls. At the end of the day, they were surprised by the arrival of an ice cream truck.
“I am thrilled that the Prologis team helped so energetically again this year to make our outdoor facilities fit for the summer,” says Judith Knuff, director of the municipal Kinderhilfezentrum. “It was a great day for everyone and a nice recognition that our commitment to the children and young people entrusted to us is valued.”
Kinderhilfezentrum Düsseldorf is home to more than 100 children and young people whose parents have experienced difficulties and are unable to look after their children adequately. In previous years, we also made improvements to the outdoor area and donated € 20,500 to support homeschooling.
“We are pleased the employees have kept their promise and are once again committed to our city and to the Kinderhilfezentrum,” says Josef Hinkel. “It is a positive signal when companies take social responsibility.”
“Global IMPACT Day is a welcome occasion for us to swap our office chairs for shovels and wheelbarrows for a charitable cause,” says Björn Thiemann. “We have our headquarters in Düsseldorf and feel very connected to the city. It feels good to give something back to the community.”
