Future experts: In collaboration with TH Köln / University of Applied Sciences, Prologis offered students the opportunity to win the Prologis Logistic-Buildings award. Students majoring in the master program of architecture were invited to draft a logistics facility based on standard criteria. Three winners accepted their prizes at TH Köln / University of Applied Sciences: Benjamin Rösgen (1st place), Felix Quecke and Eike Heidelberg (2nd place) and Stephan Goetsch (3rd place). All other works have been praised.

The competition was headed by Stefan Olesch, director of project management Germany, Prologis. “We are happy to offer up-and-coming real estate experts the opportunity to demonstrate their know-how during their studies,” said Olesch. “In addition to observing European framework conditions for logistics facilities, a major consideration was that the students’ designs presented a striking, interesting building facade. Attractive office and administrative areas that meet the criteria of the DGNB, the German Sustainable Building Council, were also requested. The students rose to the challenge with excellent designs that absolutely met our requirements.”

Competitions of this kind are an important part of Prologis’ organizational DNA. “As a forward-thinking company, the sponsorship of young talent plays an essential role for us,” said Olympia Barysz, senior HR business partner Northern Europe, Prologis. “Collaborations with universities are a great opportunity for us to get to know the professionals of the future and inspire enthusiasm for the logistics real estate sector at an early stage.”

Experts from different fields evaluated the submissions. Designs were assessed against set criteria and rated on a scale of 1 to 5. The jury included Prof. Fabian Storch (engineer, architect, director of the Institute ÖPB, TH Köln / University of Applied Sciences), Wolfgang Kühling (engineer, architect, specialist in logistics centers, industrial and commercial construction from the architectural firm Kühling) and Prologis experts Thomas Karmann (managing director, regional head Northern Europe), Alexander Heubes (country manager Germany), Markus Scheja (head of project management Germany), Sven Böhnke (head of property management Germany) and Stefan Olesch (engineer, architect, project manager). “We are pleased that Prologis gave our students the opportunity to gain practical experience and create their own design ideas for a sustainable and visually appealing logistics facility,” said Prof. Storch.
