On September 29, 2021, Prologis officially started construction on a logistics facility at Prologis Park Hamburg Hausbruch. The speculative project, designed for short-haul logistics, is a brownfield development that will comprise 11,355 square meters: 10,185 square meters of warehouse space, 545 square meters of mezzanine and 625 square meters of office space. Preparatory work began in July, and the building is scheduled for completion in April 2022. The new development project is in line with Prologis' strategy of growing in locations where the company is already active.

Prologis Park Hamburg Hausbruch stands out because of its proximity to the Port of Hamburg and ideal connections to the metropolitan region. “The logistics of short distances offered by Prologis Park Hamburg Hausbruch is a great advantage for future users and also reduces the carbon footprint,” says Konstantin Braun, capital deployment manager at Prologis. “We are excited about this speculative project. Hamburg is one of the strongest economic regions in Europe, and locations in the south of the Hanseatic city are highly sought after. The Hausbruch district is an ideal infill location.” Prologis Park Hamburg Hausbruch is close to the A7 highway, only 6 kilometers from the port terminal Altenwerder and 18 kilometers from the airport.

Prologis will develop the logistics facility in Hamburg Hausbruch according to the latest sustainability standards, and the building will meet the gold certificate requirements of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The previous building on the grounds in Hamburg Hausbruch no longer met the company’s quality and sustainability standards. Prologis demolished the old structure to make room for the modern extension adjacent to the existing logistics buildings at Prologis Park Hamburg Hausbruch.

For a Good Cause
Before the old facility was demolished, Prologis donated the furniture, kitchen equipment, office inventory and electronic devices from the building to the nonprofit organization FrauenZimmer & Notübernachtung, which offers housing and support for homeless women and is part of F&W Fördern und Wohnen AöR. The donations helped homeless women transition to apartments on their own after time at the facility.
