Set on the River Leine, Hanover is the capital of the German state of Lower Saxony. With a population of about 550,000 people, and within 100 miles of the vital North Sea ports of Bremen and Hamburg, Hanover is an important logistics hub for Germany.
Hanover has a diversified economy that is broadly representative of the German economy at large. It is home to operations for automakers and insurance companies. In recent years, the automotive industry—anchored by Volkswagen, which has 14,000 employees in the Hanover region—and e-commerce have driven demand for industrial properties and warehouses.
Hanover is a center for trade fairs. Hanover Messe has evolved into the largest exhibition of capital goods in the world, and five of the world’s biggest industrial trade exhibitions take place in Hanover, including CeBIT, the world’s biggest fair for the fields of communication, information and telecommunications.
Prologis operates numerous industrial properties and warehouses in the Hanover region; some of them are located near the airport.
