In line with the motto “Making an IMPACT”, Prologis employees once again made a contribution in their communities this year. On Friday, December 10, the Prologis Germany team volunteered at Kinderhilfezentrum Düsseldorf (under 2G+ conditions and in compliance with all necessary safety measures). Divided into small work groups, they spent a morning revitalizing the outdoor area at the children and youth aid facility.

Josef Hinkel, mayor of Düsseldorf, was onsite and praised the work of the facility, as well as the recurring commitment of the Prologis team. “I am pleased that the team is keeping its promise from last year and is once again showing a strong commitment to the Kinderhilfezentrum,” said Hinkel. “I see this as confirmation of how important the Düsseldorf location is to the company. Those who benefit from the voluntary commitment are those who have had many disadvantages, especially in the past months because of the pandemic: children and young people.”

Previously, in 2020, Prologis supported the institution as part of its Dock Doors of Giving campaign with a donation of €25,000 for a homeschooling project, as well as 40 gifts for the children as part of a wish tree campaign.

“We see ourselves as an active part of all the communities in which we’re based. That’s why it’s close to our hearts to regularly do our part locally and get involved,” said Björn Thiemann, senior vice president, country manager, Prologis Germany. “This year, we chose Kinderhilfezentrum Düsseldorf because its work fits our corporate values: integrity, passion, responsibility, courage and teamwork.”

Creating an oasis for children
Kinderhilfezentrum houses up to 120 children and young people whose parents have experienced difficulties and are unable to care for their children adequately. The facility has a large outdoor area, which Prologis employees maintained by carrying out a variety of gardening tasks and repairs. In addition, Prologis donated four wooden picnic tables.

“I’m very pleased the Prologis team remained true to us and once again ensured, with this year's energetic action, that the living conditions of the children and young people entrusted to our care are improved. Now the popular and much-used garden has become even more attractive," said Judith Knuff, director of the municipal children's aid center.
