Prologis Examination and Development

Examination and Development

Prologis carries out extensive analyses of potential sites, including historical evaluation and comprehensive soil sampling. We work closely with experts and selected appraisers. In some situations, surrounding buildings limit the use of the site. If that’s the case, we work closely with building authorities and investors to tailor our approach in the best way possible. Adjusting development plans makes for optimal land use.

Prologis Disposal and Recycling

Disposal and Recycling

If the land is suitable for the development of a logistics facility, work begins on the disposal of the prior building’s materials, including foundations and any contamination. Contaminated soil is often found on land where waste has been stored or environmentally hazardous substances have been handled. Working with experts and local authorities, we develop a tailored approach to handle these substances, which might include securing, treating or disposing of contaminated soil on the site. In particular, hazardous substances have to be declared: The Regional Waste Institute (Länderarbeitsgemeinschaft Abfall) is responsible for determining the types of waste. Prologis recycles suitable material, often using it underneath outdoor installations or floor sections in new buildings.

Prologis Protection of Nature and the Environment

Protection of Nature and the Environment

Prologis also focuses on environmental protection as part of its sustainable approach. For example, we consult with wildlife conservation experts to avoid encroaching on the habitats of protected species. Where necessary, we provide tailored measures to offset the impact of development. Additionally, we make sure to use quality building materials and efficient lighting and heating systems during construction. Our new developments meet the gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) as a minimum requirement.
