Dusseldorf (October 25, 2018) – Prologis, Inc., the global leader in logistics real estate, today announced it is developing a 24,700 square meter logistics facility in the Hanover region. Prologis’ concept for the building is geared toward flexible use by its customers—this flexibility includes the ability to subdivide the space into a maximum of three units. The facility is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2019.

Prologis recently began construction work on the approximately 44,000 square meter site in Langenhagen, near Hanover, Germany. Sustainability will play an important role in both the construction and operation of the facility. Prologis is aiming for a gold certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). “We are equipping the entire facility with energy-efficient LED lighting,” said Philipp Feige, vice president, market officer, Prologis Germany. “An innovative mezzanine level with fewer pillars and 36 ramps contribute to the high quality of the logistics space.”

Prologis acquired the property from Hannover Region Grundstücksgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (HRG). “Thanks to HRG, we were able to establish Hanover as one of our core markets in Northern Germany,” said Feige. “Twelve years ago, we were the first international developer to invest in the region. With this new facility, we are now laying further groundwork to offer our customers additional space in this important logistics market.” Prologis is receiving support from the city of Langenhagen and the Hanover region’s business development agency.

The property is located in an industrial zone designated for logistics in Prologis Park Hanover-Langenhagen. It is possible to operate here 24 hours a day, seven days a week – which makes the location attractive for logistics service providers, industrial companies, retailers and e-commerce companies. As a long-term owner, Prologis will also serve as the property manager upon completion of the facility. In total, Prologis has around 120,000 square meters of logistics space in Hanover. “We are delighted that Prologis has such confidence in the region and is building here speculatively,” said Mattias Böhle, managing director of HRG. “Prologis’ commitment to the region once again confirms that Hanover has established itself as an important logistics location.”

Hanover is one of Prologis’ core markets. Prologis Park Hanover-Langenhagen offers excellent connections to transport hubs, making it possible to distribute goods both within Europe and globally. It is located directly south of Hanover-Langenhagen Airport. Thanks to its direct connection to the A2 and A7 via the A352, the park offers outstanding access to Germany’s highway network.
